If you are among the theatre operators of the 20,000+ screens joining the digital conversion bandwagon, or just looking to increase the life of your traditional film equipment - now is the perfect opportunity to take a look at the efficiency of your projector exhaust system.

The high heat generated by the xenon bulb that is commonly used in today’s cinema projectors can adversely affect the life of the bulb itself. The cost to replace a xenon bulb could run from $700 to $2,000. With film projectors, you also need to be concerned that cellulose nitrate movie film is potentially flammable. So, it is important to have the best venting system to remove the heat from the projector.

Common Current Ventilation Most theatres currently evacuate the heat from their projectors through a centralized or dedicated fan and duct system - then to exhaust fans at the roof. The further the exhaust fan is from the source of the projector heat, the less efficiently the heat is evacuated. In addition to being less efficient - roof type exhaust systems are more expensive to install. Due to their remote location, they also require more downtime and cost more to maintain and repair. Downtime, maintenance and repair are important concerns because a problem with your ventilation system could shut down your entire theater.

In-Line Projector Ventilation Dedicated in-line exhaust fans provide the most efficient method to evacuate projector heat, because they can be installed right at the source of the heat. By eliminating the need for ladders or roof access, they are also easier to install, less costly and require less downtime to maintain and repair.

The projector itself offers a simple and efficient mounting base for the in-line fan; however, mounting the fan directly to the projector exhaust causes vibration that adversely affects the quality of the image on the screen.

This is avoided by using the Cinema Projector Ventilation System which incorporates an engineered vibration isolator and mounting bracket that attaches directly to the projector exhaust fitting. The Ventilation System is easily installed and maintained by theatre personnel, without the need for ladders or special tools. It is also available in a variety of sizes and custom configurations to meet your individual needs.
